Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

Tree ID 7277      A Lawson Cypress tree approximately 12m in height, situated in the far left-hand corner of the rear garden.  There is poor crown cover with 60% dead.

Tree ID 7278      A Yew tree approximately 5m in height, situated close to the house on the right-hand boundary of the rear garden.  The tree is becoming too large.

Tree ID 7279      A Bay Laurel tree approximately 7m in height, situated close to the property on the right-hand boundary of the rear garden.  The tree is becoming too large.

Description of Approved Works

Tree ID 7277      Remove.

Tree ID 7278      Reduce height by 2m and trim the face (ideally late February) to control size.

Tree ID 7279      Reduce height by 3m and trim the face (ideally late February) to control size.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of Tree ID 7277 above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

 Hoheria sexstylosa          (Lacebark)

Arbutus unedo                 (Strawberry Tree)

Magnolia grandiflora     (evergreen Magnolia)

The new tree should be planted during the October 2026 and March 2027 planting season with a minimum stem girth of between 8-10cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 1.5m. A slow-release watering bag is recommended to help successful establishment, especially in the first year.
