Specie and Location of Tree
Tree ID 8447 A Copper Beech tree approximately 18m in height, situated on the right-hand side of the front garden. The tree has sparse leaf cover throughout the crown. Numerous fruiting bodies of Meripilus giganteus (giant polypore) are present around the base of the tree.
Description of Approved Works
Tree ID 8447 Remove
Details of Replacement Required
As a condition of the removal of Tree ID 8447 above, a replacement tree should be planted in a convenient location of the front garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:
Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine)
Quercus frainetto (Hungarian Oak)
Castanea sativa (Sweet Chestnut)
The replacement tree is to be planted during the October 2026 to March 2027 planting season, with a stem girth of 10–12 cm measured at 1 m above ground level and a minimum overall height of 2.5 m.
The new tree should be securely supported with a suitable stake and tie to prevent wind-rock while the root system becomes established.
Regular watering will be required during the first two growing seasons, particularly from April to September. Ideally, a 75-litre tree watering bag should be used to ensure adequate and consistent watering.
If the replacement tree dies or becomes seriously diseased within five years of planting, it must be replaced with a new tree of the same specification.
