Stradella Road, 47

Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

T1.          A Rowan tree approximately 7.5m in height, situated on the front boundary with Stradella Road.  The tree is a little dense.

T2.          A Pittosporum tree approximately 2.5m in height, situated close to the right-hand side on the front boundary.  The tree is a poor specimen.

T3.          A Cherry tree approximately 6m in height, situated on the right-hand side boundary near the bottom of the rear garden.  The tree a little dense.

T4.          Two Silver Birch trees, both approximately 7.5m in height, situated close to the bottom boundary of the rear garden.  Both trees are in poor condition and leaning at acute angles into the garden.

Description of Approved Works

T1.          Crown thin by 15% including the removal of two side branches to the left side and any dead wood.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

T2.          Remove and the roots grubbed out.

T3.          Lightly thin by 15% including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

T4.          Remove and the roots grubbed out.

Details of Replacement Required

T2.          None.  A replacement tree is not necessary as a Japanese Maple is situated nearby.

T4.          As a condition of the removals of the above, three replacement trees are to be planted in a suitable location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Liqidambar styraciflua                    (Sweet Gum)

Robinia pseudoacacia ‘Frisia’       (Yellow False Acacia)

Crataegus prunifolia                        (Cockspur Thorn)

The tree should be planted during the November 2021 and March 2022 planting season with a stem girth of between 14-16cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3m.
