Proposal:

Species and Location of Tree

A Horse Chestnut tree approximately 16m in height, situated on the side-boundary with Rouse Gardens.  The tree is affected with a number of disorders.

Description of Approved Works

Remove and the stump ground out.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of the above, a replacement tree is to be planted within six months and below are the three-alternative species for consideration:

Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea’            (Purple Beech)

Liquidambar styraciflua                 (Sweet Gum of N America)

Tilia x euchlora                                  (Lime (non-drip))

The tree should be planted with a stem girth of between 20-22cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 4m.

Alternatively a multi-stemmed Silver Birch tree (Betula jacquemontii) of similar size and supplied in an eighty litre container would be acceptable.
