Gilkes Crescent, 15

Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

T1.     A Silver Birch tree approximately 7.5m in height, situated on the front boundary with Gilkes Crescent. The tree is a little dense and wide spreading.

T2.          A twin-stemmed Purple Plum tree approximately 6m in height, situated on the right-hand side boundary midway down the rear garden.  One of the main stems has split at the base and fallen across the garden.

Description of Approved Works

T1.          Lightly thin by 15% including the removal of dead wood and epicormic growth, lifting of low branches and necessary re-shaping.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

T2.          Remove the fallen stem.  The remaining stem should be shortened back from over the boundary by severing at the first of the two upright stems, in order to redress the balance.
