Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

T1.          A Goat Willow tree approximately 7.5m in height, situated close to the house on the right-hand side boundary of the rear garden. 

T2.          A small tree approximately 5m in height, situated on the right-hand side towards the bottom of the rear garden.  The tree is dead.

Description of Approved Works

T1.          Crown thin by 30% including the removal of any dead wood and necessary re-shaping. The height may be reduced by up to 1.5m, however, it is important to prune branches at convenient growth points where possible.  Ivy should also be severed at the base of the tree and removed where possible.

T2.          Remove and the roots grubbed out.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of (T2) above, a replacement tree should be planted in a convenient location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Crataegus ‘Paul’s Scarlet’              (Crimson May tree)

Sorbus aucuparia                              (Rowan)

Arbutus unedo                                  (Strawberry tree)

The new tree should be planted with a stem girth of between 14-16 cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3m.  The tree should be planted during the November 2021 and March 2022 planting season.
