Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

Tree ID 6338      A Silver Birch tree approximately 10m in height, situated in the front garden on the right-hand side close to the house.  The tree is causing movement to the retaining wall.

Tree ID 6339      A Willow tree approximately 18m in height, situated in the rear garden on the right-hand side close to the house.

Description of Approved Works

Tree ID 6338      Due to the ongoing movement of the retaining wall and the tree’s locations, the most effective solution is to remove.

Tree ID 6339      To manage size, the height can be reduced by 3m down to 15m, back to suitable growth points where possible re-shaping for a natural form. Remaining lower growth does not require pruning. Perpetual licence to maintain at this size, this will need reviewing in 6 years’ time.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of Tree ID 6338 above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location of either the front or rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Prunus sargentii                          (flowering Cherry - single pink flowers March and April)

Crataegus x prunifolia ‘               (Flagpole Cherry)

Clerodendrum trichotomum     (Fastigiata)

The new tree should be planted during the October 2025 and March 2026 planting season with a stem girth of between 10-12cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 2m.
