Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

Tree ID 7408      A Horse Chestnut tree approximately 17m in height, situated on the side boundary with station car park in the front garden.  There is excessive dead wood in the crown and main stem compromised with decay, cracks and loose bark.

Tree ID 8201      An Elder tree approximately 4m in height, situated adjacent to the Horse Chestnut tree in the front garden.  The tree has a broken main stem.

Description of Approved Works

Tree ID 7408      Remove.

Tree ID 8201      Remove main stem to just below damage at 1.2m in height.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of Tree ID:7408 above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location in the front garden, below are a selection of three alternative species for consideration:

Tilia cordata                     (Scots Pine)

Quercus frainetto            (Hungarian Oak)

Tilia cordata                     (Small leaved Lime)

The new tree should be planted during the October 2026 and March 2027 planting season with a stem girth of between 10-12cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 2m.

To ensure the new tree thrives, it must be supported with a suitable stake to prevent "wind-rock" while the roots establish.  The tree will require regular watering during the first two growing seasons (ideally using a 75-litre capacity tree watering bag), specifically from April to September. Please note that if the tree dies or becomes diseased within five years of planting, it must be replaced with a new specimen of the same specification.
