Proposal:

Specie and Location of Tree

Tree ID 8274     A Horse Chestnut tree approximately 19m in height, situated at the far end of the rear garden.  The tree is dead.

Description of Approved Works

Tree ID 8274     Remove.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of the above, a replacement tree should be planted in a convenient location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

 

Pinus Sylvestris                 (Scots Pine)

Quercus frainetto             (Hungarian Oak)

Castania sativa                 (Sweet Chestnut)

 

The new tree should be planted during the October 2026 and March 2027 planting season with a stem girth of between 10-12cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 2m.

 

To ensure the new tree thrives, it must be supported with a suitable stake to prevent "wind-rock" while the roots establish.  The tree will require regular watering during the first two growing seasons (ideally using a 75-litre capacity tree watering bag refilled once or if drought twice per week), specifically from April to September. Please note that if the tree dies or becomes diseased within five years of planting, it must be replaced with a new specimen of the same specification.
