Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

T1.          A Western Red Cedar tree approximately 22m in height, situated on the right-hand side boundary towards the bottom of the rear garden.

T2.          A Silver Birch tree approximately 6m in height, situated close to the house on the right-hand side boundary of the rear garden.  The tree is dying with significant dead wood in the upper crown.

Description of Approved Works

T1.          Low branches to be lifted to approximately 3m from ground level by trimming at the main trunk, alternatively the tree may be removed together with the stump being ground out, on the strict proviso that a replacement tree is planted in a convenient location.

T2.          Remove and the stump ground out.

Details of Replacement Required

T1.          As a condition of the removal of the above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Liquidambar styraciflua                 (Sweet Gum)

Ginkgo biloba                                     (Maidenhair tree)

Aesculus x carnea                             (Pink Chestnut)

The tree should be planted during the November 2021 and March 2022 planting season with a stem girth of between 14-16cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3m.

T2.          As a condition of the removal of the above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Amelanchier lamarckii                 (Snowy Mespilus)

Betula jacquemontii                      (Silver Birch)

Arbutus unedo                              (Strawberry tree)

The tree should be planted during the November 2021 and March 2022 planting season with a stem girth of between 12-14cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 2.5m.
