The Dulwich Estate charity is governed by a Board of 14 trustees. Eleven of these are nominated by relevant bodies, including the beneficiary school governors, the Dulwich Almshouse Charity, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Archbishop of Canterbury. The other three trustees are appointed by the Board through a selection criteria which aims to ensure a broad mix of skills and representation.
The role of the trustees
The assets of the Estate are governed by the trustees on behalf of the beneficiaries.
Irene taught in inner London state schools for 42 years and was Head of St Saviour's and St Olave's School for 19 years. She co-founded Southwark Schools Learning Partnership which breaks down barriers between the independent and state sectors. Irene was awarded a CBE in 2012 for services to education. She continues to work with schools and academies and is a Governor of two schools, including Dulwich College. She has been a Trustee, nominated by Dulwich College, since November 2016 and became Chair of the Estate in January 2023, after three years as deputy.
Rosemarie Jones,
Rosemarie Jones is Deputy Head of Real Estate to the Church Commissioners for England and is responsible for the asset management of the residential, commercial and rural portfolios across the UK.
The residential portfolio is focussed on the Hyde Park Estate, London W2 and Connaught Village and the rural portfolio extends to around 100,000 acres across 45 estates. The commercial portfolio includes offices, shops, industrial estates and hotels. Rosemarie has been a Trustee of The Dulwich Estate since April 2020, and became Deputy Chair in January 2023.
Dami Ayeko,
Dami Ayeko joined the Board of Trustees in December 2022. She is a portfolio manager at British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution. Dami has over 10 years’ experience in the financial services sector at Goldman Sachs and the Bank of England. She has a masters in maths from Imperial College, London and serves as co-opted governor for a school in Tower Hamlets. She was nominated by Central Foundation Schools London to be a Trustee for The Dulwich Estate.
Dianne Barratt,
Dianne taught in a wide variety of schools during her career, both in the UK and the USA. Her final appointment before retirement in 2017 was Head of Prospect House School, Putney. She was an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate for twelve years and currently advises schools on safeguarding, compliance and inspection. She also works as a consultant advising parents on educational matters. Dianne has lived in the Dulwich area for over thirty years; she is a Governor of Alleyn's School and was nominated by Alleyn's to be a trustee of The Dulwich Estate in September 2022.
Helen Freeman,
Helen became an Estate Trustee in June 2021. She is a highly regarded property management specialist and is Joint Head of Management Surveying at British Land. She has particular expertise in managing retail portfolios.
Howard Kerr,
Howard Kerr joined the Board of Trustees in January. He moved to Dulwich with his family in 2009 and is keen to contribute to the continued vitality of the Dulwich community and the important charitable work of The Dulwich Estate. After an overseas career in the shipping and energy industries, he was most recently the Chief Executive of The British Standards Institution (BSI). A geography graduate of Oxford University, he is passionate about the sustainability of nature and communities. He was nominated to be a Trustee by Dulwich College where he has been a Governor for 3 years.
Penny King,
Penny is a partner in a central London law firm specialising in commercial real estate. She has over 25 years' experience and acts principally for corporates, developers and institutional clients, handling complex transactions with a real estate focus. Penny and her family have been resident in Dulwich for almost 20 years. Having served as a parent-governor at JAGS, Penny was later appointed to sit as a governor at Comber Grove School, Camberwell. She has been a co-opted Trustee of The Dulwich Estate since January 2020.
Ben Kottler,
Ben is a client manager at Marathon Asset Management, with responsibility for Canadian and US clients and for Environmental, Social and Governance issues. In a 30 year investment career, Ben has worked in London, New York and Boston. He has been a governor of two schools and volunteered for CFA UK, the representative body for UK investment professionals. Ben has been a co-optative Trustee of The Dulwich Estate since 2020.
Segun Osuntokun,
Segun is an English qualified solicitor, with 27 years’ experience in commercial dispute resolution. He is the Managing Partner of the City office of global law firm, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. Segun studied Economics at Queen Mary, University of London and Law at Balliol College, Oxford University. Segun and his family have lived in Dulwich for almost 20 years. He is a member of the congregation of St Barnabas with Christ's Chapel and has been a Trustee of The Dulwich Estate since June 2020.
Stephen Parry
Stephen works in investment banking and Hedge Funds, covering London and New York. He also has experience in the development of retail and commercial property. Since 2016 he has been The Dulwich Estate’s nominee trustee at St Olave’s & St Saviours Foundation. Stephen is also Governor of St Saviour’s Girls School. He has lived with his family in Dulwich for over 25 years and harbours a strong desire to help develop the community of Dulwich. In 2021 he became a trustee for The Dulwich Estate.
Richard Pinckard,
Richard is a chartered accountant and has been a partner at KPMG since 1996, working with many of its major international clients across a wide range of industries. A former member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, the UK’s financial reporting regulator, he is also a Governor of Alleyn’s School and has been a Trustee of the British Lung Foundation. He has lived in Dulwich for many years. Richard is a Governor of Alleyn's and has been a Trustee of The Dulwich Estate since 2014, having been nominated by Alleyn's School.
Caroline Price,
Caroline is a chartered accountant and non executive director or trustee of a number of arts and educational related businesses and charities. She is also a school governor. She was Chief Finance Officer of a FTSE 250 property and transport group for a decade. Caroline, and subsequently her family, has lived in Dulwich for over 30 years. She has been a Trustee of The Dulwich Estate since April 2020 and was nominated by The Dulwich Almshouse Charity.
