New land management surveys to inform site management on the Estate
16 July 2026The Estate has completed an Estate-wide survey of all communal area trees for its digital database – Treeplotter
This is part of ongoing Estate management and good practice. A large percentage of the Estate’s trees are in good health, but the survey also identified trees at the end of their natural life and which will need to be removed to keep people safe. Trees being removed are subject to strict statutory permissions and the Estate’s minimum one to one replacement policy. In some instances, several trees may be required to replace the existing tree canopy. Read more about our tree management and grounds maintenance policy here.

Habitat Management Plans for three areas with conservation value, are also complete and further conservation work is planned for autumn and will continue over the coming years. The Mill Pond, Grove Meadow and Dulwich and Sydenham Golf Club have been the focus of specialist bird, bat and invertebrate surveys throughout the spring and summer. This data providing valuable baseline data to help guide future conservation efforts. Each site will have tailored plans to support further ecological improvements depending on its characteristics. The plans will include specialist land and canopy management, installation of bat and bird boxes, vegetation clearance and water improvements. We will report on this work in future newsletters.
