Fresh spaces coming soon
23 June 2025The local landscape is evolving with an array of new businesses opening shortly or in the future, bringing fresh energy to the area. The long-awaited Taylor’s greengrocers is scheduled for end of June. It will focus on offering quality produce and a community-focused shopping experience.

The closure of D Village on the North Parade creates a new opportunity. The Estate will be marketing this unit. Following the sad closure of Romeo Jones, the shop will undergo refurbishment in preparation for its next chapter, opening in 2026. The old garage next to Bartley’s flower shop, is also being modernised in preparation for a new tenant in the coming months.
In Herne Hill, we say goodbye to AK Food and Wines and wish Ken Gangadeen well with his retirement. Local supermarket chain Premier will be taking over the lease. In West Dulwich there will be an exciting new addition opening at 7 Croxted Road soon. More news on this will be on our website.
The Estate often hears from residents who express sadness when a long-standing business closes in the local area. We understand it is disappointing when shops close.
Thank you for contacting us, we always like to hear your views and welcome ideas for new businesses. There are a combination of economic factors at play on Britain’s high streets which are particularly challenging for small businesses and to which The Dulwich Estate as a commercial landlord, is not immune. Traffic restrictions, the cost of living and the change in the retail landscape all have impact. The units in Dulwich Village are generally small heritage properties and don’t lend themselves to all types of business.
The Dulwich Estate works closely with its businesses and supports independent traders as much as possible. We share your desire to maintain a vibrant high street. Please do support new and existing businesses by shopping local as much as you can and keeping businesses busy.
