13 March 2026Volunteer opportunities for residents to join in data collection to help protect the local environment

London Wildlife Trust is inviting local residents to help improve local ecological databases for Dulwich Wood and Sydenham Hill Wood through a series of ‘Bioblitz’ events. These organised tours encourage visitors to use the iNaturalist app in the woods, to record any living thing in the woods, by photographing it and uploading it to a database. At Bioblitz events, groups of walkers look high and low while exploring the woods to communally collect as much of this data as possible within a certain time window. Each walk has a specific focus. For example, a recent mosses and lichens event resulted in over 100 observations.
The next Bioblitz will meet at Crescent Wood Road entrance to Dulwich Wood, on 26 April, 11am-1pm. Everyone going to the woods can join in at any time, by simply scanning QR codes at the entrance, and following the instructions.
