Green Dulwich

Dulwich is home to one of the greenest areas of London

Dulwich is home to one of the greenest areas of London. Its parks, woodlands, allotments and sports fields mak up around a third of the Estate. The Estate includes seven designated Sites of Importance of Nature Conservation and one Local Nature Reserve.

The Dulwich Estate charity is a small team dedicated to looking after the area, in many different ways. We work with a variety of organisations to protect the natural environment and its biodiversity, build partnerships and ensure our property portfolio is resilient, now and for the future.

Scheme of Management planning rules prevent over-development and require homeowners to look after the natural environment; we care for ancient woodlands and have tree-planting programmes; we adopt environmentally friendly practice in our business operations; and we work with expert partners to share best practice.

In 2025 The Estate published its sustainability strategy, Shaping Our Future, Celebrating Our Past. It sets out challenges and opportunities to ensure the Estate's land and property is more resilient to change and contributes to local and national carbon reduction goals.
