Urban Tree Challenge update

06 December 2022

Since we announced Forestry Commission match funding for Dulwich as part of the Urban Tree Challenge, we have planted 85 trees across the Estate, with a further 33 trees still to go. The programme provides a welcome boost to the area’s green canopy.

As part of the initiative, The Dulwich Estate is carrying out a tree survey, mapping locations and assessing the condition of its trees to ensure they are well looked after. The survey will include calculating a CAVAT value (trees as a public asset), as well as carbon sequestration and other environmental benefits. This programme of work belongs to a wider Estate green strategy which we will continue to update on in the coming months
