The Dulwich Estate

3. Conservatories

All conservatories are subject to approval under the Scheme of Management even though they may be exempt from planning permission:

The Scheme of Management requires that no material alteration is to be made to the external appearance of any building or structure on an enfranchised property and no new or additional building or structure is to be erected without the prior written approval of the Managers.

The Managers of the Scheme are the Incorporated Trustees of The Dulwich Estate and written approval or alterations is provided to applicants by way of a Licence.

The design and size of conservatories should be appropriate to the design of the house and the size of the garden and should not result in a loss of amenity to neighbours. Adequate access is to be provided for cleaning and maintaining walls and roofs within the confines of the property. Normally a passage of at least 600mm (2ft) should be provided between conservatory walls and the boundary. An exception to this requirement may be made where the conservatory abuts a suitable solid party wall.
