Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

Front garden (bordering Woodwarde Rd.)

T1.         A Fig tree approximately 4m in height, situated close to the house.  The tree is a little dense and wide spreading.

H1.        A well established Pyracantha hedge is situated on the front boundary with Woodwarde Road and around the corner into Calton Avenue, the hedge is an aesthetically important feature which should be retained in its present form.

Side Garden (fronting Calton Avenue)

T2.         A Pittosporum tree approximately 5.5m in height, situated to the right of the front door. The tree is a little dense and wide spreading.

T3.         A Cypress tree approximately 9m in height, situated on the boundary a little further towards the rear.  The tree is a poor specimen which appears to be dying. (the left hand Cypress of two when viewed from the road).

T4.         A Cypress tree approximately 12m in height, situated to the right of the garage entrance.  The tree is a little wide spreading.

T5.         A Fig tree approximately 3m in height, situated close to the rear of the garage.  The tree is a little dense and wide spreading.

T6.         A Hawthorn tree approximately 7.5m in height is situated in the bottom right-hand corner of the garden.  The tree is a little dense.

Description of Approved Works

Front garden (bordering Woodwarde Rd.)

T1.         Crown thinned by 25% including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping, the height and basic shape should be retained. It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points where possible.

H1.        Clip back in line with the Woodwarde Road sign, and with the top ‘rounded off’, this will provide a more than adequate pavement width.

Side garden (fronting Calton Ave.)

T2.         Reduce all round to form a more compact specimen, including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping, the basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points.

T3.         Fell at ground level.

T4.         Low branches are lifted over the road to provide a clearance of 5.5m from ground level, including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping.

Rear Garden

T5.         Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping.  The height and basic shape should be retained.

T6.         Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood, Ivy, and necessary re-shaping. The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

None.  The garden is well stocked with trees.
