Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

T1.          An Oak tree approximately 12m in height, situated in the front right-hand corner adjacent to Alleyn Park.  The tree is a little dense.

T2.          A Cherry tree approximately 7.5m in height, situated on the front boundary with Alleyn Park to the right of the entrance nearest to the Gipsy roundabout.  The tree is in poor condition with significant dead wood and is dying.

T3.          A Yew tree approximately 10m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary close to the driveway.  The tree is a little tall and out of shape.

T4.          An Ash tree approximately 12m in height, situated close to the front boundary with Alleyn Park adjacent to the single storey building near the front driveway.

T5.          An Oak tree approximately 16m in height situated on the left-hand side of the rear garden adjacent to Alleyn Park and close to the Gipsy Hill roundabout.  The tree is a little dense.

T6.          A False Acacia tree approximately 10m in height, situated in the bottom corner of the rear garden.  The tree is dying and is leaning at an acute angle towards the roundabout.

T7.          A line of 6 Lime trees approximately 10m in height, situated on the right-hand side boundary towards the bottom of the rear garden and adjacent to Alleyn Road.

Description of Approved Works

T1.          Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

T2.          Remove and the stump ground out.

T3.          Reduce in height by up to 1.5m and the side growth trimmed back proportionally to form a more rounded and compact shape.

T4.          Remove dead wood and necessary re-shaping.  The height and basic shape should be retained.

T5.          Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

T6.          Remove by felling at ground level.

T7.          Re-pollard at previous pruning points some 5m above ground level.

Details of Replacement Required

T2.          As a condition of the removal of (T2) above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a central location on the front boundary and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Crataegus ‘Paul’s Scarlet’                              (Crimson May tree)

Magnolia soulangeana                                   (Deciduous Magnolia)

Acer davidii                                                         (Paperbark Maple)

T6.          As a condition of the removal of (T6) above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a nearby location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Liriodendron tulipifera                                   (Tulip tree)

Catalpa bignonioides                                      (Indian Bean tree)

Fagus sylvatica ‘Atropurpureum’               (Purple Beech tree)

The replacement trees should be planted during the current planting season up to the end of March with a stem girth of between 16-18cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3.5m.
