St Olave’s & St Saviour’s Grammar School Foundation had its origins in 1562 when Queen Elizabeth I granted St Saviour’s Grammar School its charter, with St Olave’s Grammar School receiving its charter some nine years later. The voluntary efforts of the people of Southwark made possible the financing of such institutions for the benefit of ‘children and younglings’ of the parish of Southwark.

Over a century ago, the two schools merged and the Foundation is a Beneficiary of The Dulwich Estate and applies funds received to its two schools:

The girls’ school of the Foundation, St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School is located in the New Kent Road, London, SE1.

The school is a Church of England foundation in the Diocese of Southwark which is reflected in the composition of the Governing Body and in the provision of religious education, which is a core subject for all girls to GCSE level.

The school's long association with the parish of St. Saviour, Southwark, is remembered each year in March when Governors, present and former staff, girls and parents gather in Southwark Cathedral for the annual service of commemoration and thanksgiving.
